You can wait for at least two weeks before you carry out the tests especially the HIV one. It takes two to eight weeks for antibodies to reach your bloodstream. Going for the tests too early can give you false results. But you can test for other STDs after one week and especially if you have any unusual signs in your genital area.
You can choose to carry out the tests in the privacy of your home. But you must seek medical treatment for STDs. Make sure that you use a kit that has been approved by the National HIV and STD Testing Resources. If test is positive, you can carry out another test to confirm.
Make an appointment with your family doctor if you want to have the tests carried out by a professional. If you feel uncomfortable with a doctor who knows you, you can go to a testing center where no one knows you.
Make sure that you get proper treatment for STD infection. Go for another HIV tests after a few months to be sure that you not infested by this dangerous disease.
